harp lessons

I love teaching and it has always been the main focus of my working life. I have been teaching music for almost 30 years, in the various places that I have lived, privately and in music schools and societies (in Ireland and Brittany). I started off teaching piano, but since 2009 I have also been teaching fiddle and harp.

My main area of interest now is the old Irish wire strung harp. In addition to one-to-one lessons, since 2014 I have taught group classes and facilitated harp workshops for the Historical Harp Society of Ireland, at Scoil na gCláirseach–Festival of Early Irish Harp and at HHSI Early Irish Harp Discovery Days around Ireland.

Lessons – in person

I offer local face-to-face lessons in Armagh. I am also happy to travel to teach.

Lessons can be set up weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as a one-off session. Or you might be interested in a visit to Armagh for a more intensive course? I am within walking distance of Armagh City.

I am also exploring the possibility of setting up regular group lessons in or near Armagh in the future. Please contact me to register your interest.

Virtual lessons

I also offer virtual online lessons, (using zoom, whereby, skype etc.) if you have a good internet connection and a camera!

I normally teach through English, but I also speak French.

Rental harps

If you would like to try an old Irish wire strung harp but do not have access to an instrument, please contact me. If you live in Ireland (including NI), I can arrange a rental harp for you, subject to availability.
